2017 in review – travels

2017 has been the most fantastic year for me for travelling! I feel so lucky and privileged to have been to all the places I’ve been to just in the last 12 months. Whilst I have worked really really hard to be able to afford to go on these amazing trips, it’s not always guaranteed that the opportunity to do so will be there. But fortunately for me, the opportunity and the means were there this year and I have made the most of it! I’m so grateful to have been in this position.

For those of you who may not have read my blog before, it was quite a special year this year as far as family celebrations go. So a fair amount of my travels have been part of those celebrations. Other trips though have just been because I had the opportunity to go so I went!

I’m not sure this will totally be in chronological order, but here are the truly awesome places I’ve been this year:

One of my favourite places in the world! It’s an absolutely stunning city and I’m fortunate enough that my Dad lives here so I get to visit it quite often. I will never ever get tired of seeing the view of Prague Castle and St Vitos Cathedral from the side of the Vltava River. It’s special at any time of year. Prague is one of those places that I would definitely recommend to anyone, it’s so beautiful and perfect for a long weekend away.

I ADORE Cornwall. I’m determined to one day have a little holiday cottage down there so that I can spend my summers down there! To me, it’s a magical place and totally enchanting. I love the coast, the beaches, the countryside, the towns, the history – basically everything! If you’re ever considering visiting the UK, then Cornwall is a must. You won’t be disappointed. I’m not sure I’ll make it to Cornwall during 2018 which is a sad thought, but hopefully the year after. I’m always so jealous when anyone says they’re going to Cornwall! I loved this years holiday there so much 🙂

New York

It’s been a life long dream to visit New York and this year I did it! And it was everything I hoped it would be and more. What a fabulous place, it’s honestly exactly like it looks on the TV and in movies, right down to the steam coming out of the drains. You really need to do more than one trip to take it all in though so I’ll be going back for sure!

Paphos, Cyprus

This is somewhere I’ve visited a couple of times now and I always find it so beautiful and charming. And of course the weather is spectacular! It’s very British but very Greek at the same time and I had the most fabulous time this year. The harbour is one of my favourite places there, I love just walking around it and finding a little bar and sitting having a drink watching the world by. Is there anything better?!

This is another place that’s been on my ‘to visit’ list for quite some time. And again, it was everything I hoped it would be and more. I visited Toronto and Vancouver and I have to say that Vancouver is my new favourite city! It’s beautiful and is surrounded by the most stunning scenery. If you live in Vancouver then I’m very jealous because you live in an awesome place! Coupled with a trip to see the Invictus Games in Toronto the whole trip was an amazing experience.

I wrote three posts about my trip to Canada and you can read about the Invictus Games, Toronto and Vancouver

I genuinely can’t believe my luck this year. I’ve made so many fantastic memories that I will absolutely treasure for the rest of my days. That’s what life’s all about after all!

Thanks for reading! Much love! x
