2017 in review – beauty faves!

Here we go with another 2017 review post, you lucky people! This time, my favourite beauty bits and pieces that I’ve been using during 2017.

A few days ago I wrote about my top 5 Glossybox faves for 2017. Well this post is about other beauty faves, ones not found in any Glossybox this year!

You’ll notice that many of these are from The Body Shop. And that’s because I just absolutely LOVE The Body Shop. When I was younger it was my favourite shop and I got everything there, including stationery. They managed to engage me with their pro animal, pro environment, anti animal testing marketing and I adored going in there. But then as I got older I went off it and started to find it too expensive. However, my love for it has been completely reinvigorated and particularly so in the past 12 months and pretty much every time I go into town, or to any other shopping centre, I have to have a look in there. I don’t always buy something, but I just love looking around!

Anyway, not all of my 2017 faves are from The Body Shop (just most of them!). I couldn’t pick just 5 either, so I’ve had to go for my top 6! And here we go:

Starting with The Body Shop ones then:

Coconut hand cream

If you read my “coconut crazy” post from a few months ago (you can read it here), you’ll know that I have a bit of an obsession with anything coconut fragranced. However this hand cream is a relatively new buy, as I was using the Pink Grapefruit fragranced one before. And despite only using this cream about 4 times so far, it trumps every other hand cream I’ve ever used. It’s so soft and smells like a dream, so it had to go into my top 6. I’ll have to stock up on this little gem so I can be sure to never run out!

Seaweed clay mask

Before using this I was using a Blue Corn mask, which I personally thought was amazing. But like most things that I really like, they discontinued it so I had to find an alternative. This Seaweed clay mask was suggested to me by the guys at The Body Shop as a suitable alternative to the Blue Corn mask I was using. So I gave it a go. And I have to say that this seaweed mask is far better than the Blue Corn one I was using. It does smell a bit iffy, but it’s seaweed so of course it smells a bit rough, but boy is it a good mask! I’ve genuinely noticed a reduction in breakouts and my skin really does look brighter compared to before I started using it. Once a week does the job with this mask so it’s perfect for me.

Seaweed toner

Being the beauty illiterate kind of person that I was (i.e, I didn’t have a flaming clue!), toner never really featured on my radar. Cleanser was as far as my skin cleaning regime went. And in fact, if I’d not got this free because of a 3 for 2 offer they were doing in The Body Shop in Prague (told you I visit one everywhere I go!) then I probably wouldn’t have ever used it. I chose the toner as my free item because I’d been using the clay mask and loved it and thought maybe the toner might be equally as good for my skin. And I wasn’t wrong! This now features in my daily skin routine – cleanser and then this lovely toner. And I credit this combined with the weekly facemask with making my skin look and feel heaps brighter, more lovely and less prone to breakouts.

Vitamin E moisture cream

I’ve tried so many moisturisers over the years and had never really been able to find one that was consistently good for my skin. The ones that had been the best had been ones with a Vitamin E base so, through a process of elimination, I figured vitamin E must the thing that’s good for my skin. So knowing that The Body Shop had a vitamin E range, I chose to give the moisturising cream a go and I’m chuffed I did! It’s been so good for my skin – moisturising without being greasy and I only need to use it maybe two or three times a week. Love it!

And now for the non The Body Shop items!

Lee Stafford CoCoLoCo heat protection mist

Whenever I go to the hairdressers they always use a heat protection spray on my hair. That’s understandable, its good stuff. But if I’m honest I’m not overly keen on the smell. So one day earlier this year, I was strolling around Boots and stumbled across the Lee Stafford CoCoLoCo range. Well we all know about my love of coconut fragranced stuff don’t we?! So a heat protection spray in a COCONUT FRAGRANCE…..what a dream! And it’s good stuff as well, it does what it says on the tin (so to speak 😉 ).

Nivea Hydro Care lip balm

This isn’t actually a new find for 2017, I’ve been using it for a couple of years now. But I don’t go anywhere without it so it seems only right that it’s in my top 6! I don’t really wear much lipstick or anything so I tend to need a lip balm that keeps my lips nice and soft and that’s what this does. And it’s not flavoured which I actually prefer. Perfect for all weathers and with SPF in it too!

So there we have it. My top 6 beauty products for 2017. All things that I will definitely use into 2018 and probably far beyond. Who knows what I might find during 2018 as well!

Thanks for reading guys! Much love to you all x
