Isn’t it always the way that you don’t have any plans for ages and ages and then two things come along that are taking place one day after the other!
That’s exactly what happened to me this week. I’ve had no evening plans for weeks and weeks (due to moving house!) and then I had only two things planned in December – a midnight showing of the new Star Wars film and my works Christmas party – and low and behold, they fell on consecutive days. For goodness sake.
That’s meant two rather late nights one after the other. No biggie, except that it turns out it takes me ages to recover from the tiredness of it all nowadays! Despite having two lie ins on the two days after the works Christmas party, I’m still really tired. I’m definitely getting old.
So Wednesday night was Star Wars night. The showing was at 00.01am on 14th December and we got out at 02.50am. By the time I’d dropped my friend home at got back to my house, it was 3.15am and then of course I couldn’t settle down so it was probably well after 4.15am before I got to sleep. When the alarm went off at 6.30am I could have cried. How I managed to struggle through work on just 2 hours sleep I have no idea.
No Star Wars spoilers here, other than to say it’s really good!
Then Thursday night was my works Christmas party. After a quick 45 min snooze after I got in from work, it was straight to the venue. We had a cracking night! Our parties are always really fun and this one was no exception. I left at 11.30pm though and by the time I’d got home and settled down it was probably 1am. Luckily I’d pre-planned and booked Friday off work!
So after having only 2 hours sleep in a 24 hour period, it’s safe to day that I just cannot cope with these late nights any more! I am such a loser. It’s not the actual nights out I can’t cope with, it’s the aftermath – it just takes me so long to get back to feeling normal again. Maybe I ought to go out more, then maybe I’ll get used to it?! No, that’s a terrible idea.
Anyway, it’s been a crazy couple of days but so much fun! Hope you’re all enjoying the festivities so far! Much love x
