How I’m doing as a blogger

I’m not 100% sure I can call myself a blogger yet. Well, I am a blogger by virtue of the fact that I write this blog, but going by what my idea of being a blogger is, I think I’m far from it at the moment!

I’ve written in previous posts the reasons why I started writing this blog, but as a quick reminder, I wanted a means to encourage myself to put more variety into what I was wearing, particularly because I had heaps of clothes that I didn’t wear much. And at the time, I really didn’t have a clue what I was doing. All I knew was that I had a little space where I could record all my daily outfit posts and look back on them and keep pushing myself to diversify my wardrobe.

It’s now been 17 months since I started this blog, which, by the way, has gone super quick! Back at the start I never really expected to keep this going for that long, nor did I expect to enjoy doing it. It took me quite a while to get some followers and I really didn’t have any idea about interacting my social media accounts with the blog. So for about a year or so, I didn’t take blogging very seriously. I wrote many posts but they didn’t get much interest and I was ok with that.

Whilst I had an idea at the start on what I wanted the blog to be about, I didn’t have any plans to expand it or blog about anything else. My first few posts were really random (although looking back on them, they were quite good even if I do say so myself!) and then I found the confidence to put my daily outfit posts up and for a while, I was only interested in writing about my style.

As time went by though and I started discovering other blogs and seeing what others were writing about, I wanted to start writing about a variety of things. Just writing about my style isn’t really who I am and the more posts I was writing the more I was enjoying it. And so that led me to have a rethink about what I was doing with the blog and whether it was something to try and expand further on.

The past few months I’ve so enjoyed writing my blog. Especially so since I made the decision to just blog about whatever came into my mind. I’ve decided that just sticking to one particular subject isn’t me, I really want to just write about my life in general (even though my life is very simple, hence the blog name!) and my life experiences, whether that be travelling, in sport, in my new found interest in beauty products, or just any other random subject.

So, how do I think I’m doing as a blogger? Well the answer is, I think I’m doing ok. I still have heaps to learn if I want to grow my blog more, and I’ve now got some plans on where I want it to go. What I need to do is figure out how I’m going to do it, and that’s actually quite an exciting prospect!

I have got some ideas and I now carry round my notebook in case I’m struck with inspiration for future posts. And I find myself quite regularly thinking about what I can blog about next, which I never thought I’d do! My blog has certainly become my new hobby and is filling a space that was left empty after I gave up twirling (I wrote a post all about baton twirling a couple of weeks ago, if you’re interested!).

I’ve now had just under 1000 views on my blog, from over 520 people and I’ve got 69 followers, most of which has come within the past 6 months. And I cannot thank you all enough for taking the time to read anything I’ve ever written. I know I’m not the most interesting person you’ll ever have come across, but knowing that people have taken a few minutes to read what I’ve written honestly makes me so chuffed! So thank you, it means the world.

I’m not expecting to ever be a really popular blogger than can make a career out of blogging. Really all I just hope for is for people to read and enjoy whatever crazy things I decide to write about next.

So, onwards and upwards! Happy Sunday to all of you! Much love x
