It’s all about the jeans….

As I was looking back on some of my daily outfit pictures the other day, I had a sudden thought – aren’t jeans fabulous?! And not just jeans. Denim in general is pretty damn great. And I know that’s not a new revelation, we all know how amazing denim is, I just felt the need to say it!

What made me think about it was looking at all the different cut of jeans I’ve got. Well, when I say “all”, I’ve actually only got about 4 different styles of jeans. When you think about how many different styles of jeans there are out there, 4 isn’t that many. But the ones I’ve got are the ones that I think suit me the best.

When I was younger, I would only wear one style of jeans – bootcut. I wouldn’t even entertain the idea of wearing any other style of jean, although I couldn’t tell you why I was like that. Maybe it was a comfort thing, who knows! In the past few years, I’ve only been interested in wearing skinny jeans. It’s strange how things change like that, because once I’d got comfortable wearing skinny jeans, I wouldn’t wear bootcut ones again. Yes, you’re right, I am a little bit strange!

Nowadays I’m open to wearing any style of jeans, in any colour, as long as I’m comfortable in them and I think they look ok on me. That’s good progress, as at least I’m now a bit more adventurous.

So what styles of jeans do I have? Well I have many pairs of skinny jeans as they are still my favourite style and in my opinion, suit me the best. But I also have 2 pairs of straight cut jeans (which I really did not used to like a few years back!), a pair of boyfriend jeans and 3 pairs of girlfriend jeans. And they range in colour from white, to every shade of blue, khaki and black. And I do actually wear them all, even though I have so many.

The great thing about jeans is that they look good for lots of different occasions and you can match them to any style type. I don’t think I have one particular style and so being able to wear jeans dressed up or down is fabulous – there aren’t many items of clothing that are so versatile! One pair of jeans can look good with heels and a smart top for a night out, or can look equally as nice with a super casual snuggly jumper and trainers.

I don’t think anyone needs convincing to buy or wear jeans – I expect pretty much everyone owns at least one pair right?! But if you’re the sort of person who’s a bit regimented, like I was, and wouldn’t even consider wearing a pair of different cut jeans to your normal pair, then my advice would be to just give it a go! Just because you’re comfortable wearing the one style, doesn’t mean others won’t suit you or that they won’t be equally as comfortable.

So taking a look at my outfit pics from the week before last, it’s good to see that I did wear different styles of jeans throughout the week:

I think my favourite outfit of the whole week is the mustard cardigan and stripy navy top with the girlfriend jeans. And I know I’ve already said this at least twice before (probably more than that!), but I’m a big fan of navy and mustard colour together, so you can expect to see much more of it over the coming months I’m sure.

I also really like the black jumper and khaki jeans. A really simple outfit but one that looked, and felt, pretty good. And during this week we’ve had straight cut, skinny, and girlfriend jeans so a good mix of styles as well. All in all, a pretty good week I think 🙂

And denim isn’t just awesome material when it comes to jeans. No no, it’s awesome for everything else too. We haven’t even mentioned skirts, shirts, shorts, vest tops, jumpsuits, playsuits…oh my goodness the list is endless! Perhaps that’s a topic for another day.

Until next time, happy denim’ing #thatsnotaword #itshouldbeaword
