As my month of style experimenting comes to an end, it’s an opportunity to reflect on what I have learnt from this whole experiment.
Who am I kidding – I haven’t learnt anything really! Or at least nothing I didn’t already know anyway. I have achieved one thing though – I haven’t worn the same outfit more than once! And believe me when I say that, for me, that really is an achievement.
I’ve been guilty in the past of being lazy and once I’ve found an outfit that works for me, I tend to wear it over and over again. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but when you’ve got as many clothes as I have, it seems a shame, as well as waste of money, to not experiment by mixing and matching! And if I’ve achieved not much else during August, I have at least got into the habit of mixing things up a litte bit.
Like I’ve said in previous posts, I’m not in any way ‘fashionable’, I dress for myself and not just to fit in with the latest fashions. And I will continue to do that as it works for me.
So the final week of August outfits are here.
And the first few days of September are here:
Don’t think I can say I’ve got a favourite out of any of these, I like all of them. Which I guess as the point of all of this!
My key styling points that I’ve concluded from all of this are:
- Go for basics – it’s easy to mix and match basics together and come up with a damn good outfit!
- Have a few other key pieces which aren’t considered basic, because they will always make you feel that extra bit better.
One other thing that I’ve now started noticing about myself are that:
- I don’t accessorize well. But I’m not that into jewellery or anything really, so I’m not too fussed.
- I tend to wear my hair the same every day. That’s mostly because I’m not a morning person and I just don’t have time to do anything remotely creative with it. Maybe that’s something else I can focus on over the coming months.
So, as I’ve said before, happy styling everyone!
